FAQs

What is SACC?

We are a group of Christian families who have collectively home educated for a total of 40 years. While meeting as a church co-op group for two years, we have seen the need in our home educating community, as well as within our families, for more in-depth classes. It is our belief that we can accomplish more as a group by taking advantage of each other’s strengths and experiences.

Where do you meet?

We meet at Eden Road Community Church in Arlington.

Lunch afterward at Craven's Park is a great time to fellowship and let the kids play!

What day and time do you meet?

We meet from 8:15 am until 12:55 pm on Fridays.

There are 2 Semesters each year--a fall semester and a Spring Semester.

Each Semester is 12 weeks.

What is your Mission Statement and what are the goals of SACC?

To provide an affordable opportunity for the South Arlington/Mansfield Community of home educators to expand or supplement their curriculum by offering classes that lend themselves to a group environment.

Our goal is to offer an affordable opportunity for our children to experience a better, more well rounded home based education. Instruction will come from qualified parents whose families are members of SACC. Parents who are qualified to instruct must sign our statement of faith, show competent ability to teach the given subject and be passionate about children’s education.

What is expected of SACC members?
In order to participate in SACC your oldest child has to at least be in the first grade. Families are required to participate in all 4 class periods.

SACC is not for those families wishing to “drop off” their children to receive educational instruction. It is an organization for parents who desire to be an integral part of their children’s education. At least one parent from each family will be expected to participate in some area of the co-op. SACC offers the opportunity for parent involvement in the areas of Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Pre-School teaching and others. Parents help in three class periods and have one period of free time.

Each family will be required to adhere to the Statement of Faith during all SACC functions.

Do you have a Statement of faith?

We believe that the Bible is the word of God and in the inerrancy of scripture. We believe in the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, in Christ crucified, buried and risen. We will always refer to the Bible as our foundational teaching tool.

All participating families will be expected to abide by these beliefs during co-op time and to teach them, when applicable, in their class (i.e. Creation Science)

Each person in attendance will be asked to dress appropriately in modest clothing.

Parents should keep their children in good control at all times. If there are concerns, we will address them with the parents and ask that they address the concern. If concerns persist or worsen, a consultation will be required between parent, child and a SACC leader. If the problem continues, the child may be asked to no longer participate in the class.

We ask that all families be committed to attending an entire twelve-week semester, if at all possible. All families should be committed to arriving on time and being prepared.

In the event of an absence, all Teachers and Assistants must communicate their absence to SACC and recruit a replacement Teacher/Assistant for their class. We understand that the needs for some absences are unforeseen, however we would appreciate your notification of absence prior to Friday morning, if at all possible.
